A Long Day

Well, on the plus side, I'm not hurt. But on the negative side, I wrecked my car this morning. No, not totally, but enough that Sly needs major repairs. I was headed to school this morning, and got behind another car and a road grater. The first car passed the grater. I waited until that car was back in the correct lane, looked for oncoming traffic, signaled, and pulled out to go around. As soon as I was next to the grater, the driver decided to turn left. No signal. No, "Oh crap, there's a car there!" So, I drove down into the ditch on the left hand side of the road, plowed through the ditch, and up onto the road the grater was turning onto. See, Mik, it's not just the Protege that off-roads! :) Anyway, I drove to school and checked the damage. The passenger side mirror is gone and the front passenger door needs definite repairs. Luckily, there doesn't seem to be any damage to the front or underside of the car. It's definitely still drivable. I'll get a loaner this weekend, and Sly will go to the car doctor next week.

But, I had to do a police report, and isn't talking to the insurance people fun? It wasn't as bad as I'd thought it might be, but it still was a hassle. I only talked to my mom like 30 times today -- thanks, Jan, for all your help!!!!

I'm hoping I get a smokin' hot loaner -- but it will probably be some type of wagon. Just my luck.
